Eco Schools
Eco Schools is the largest sustainable schools programme in the world and is designed to encourage action on sustainable development education issues. Our children love getting involved in their Eco Schools projects and learning about how to help protect the environment.
Physical Development
Physical Development Stars is a programme that supports children’s movement for a minimum of three hours per day in line with government guidelines. Our practitioners look at ways everyday routines and activities can be adapted to encourage fine and gross motor physical development in a fun way, limiting the time that children are sitting down.

Nursery Animals
Taking care of animals provides children with a great sense of responsibility and opportunities to asses risk whilst developing empathy and social skills. We are currently looking after a little fish.
Delivery Acceptance
We accept your courier deliveries to make things that little bit easier for busy mums and dads.
Bi-Lingual Staff
We are lucky to have bi-lingual staff who are able to support children in their first language, or in exploring new languages. This not only helps children settle well into nursery, but also provides opportunities to better understand and celebrate children’s cultures and heritage. We currently have staff fluent in Bengali and Portuguese.

Settling in sessions
Our nursery offers settling in sessions. Parents can bring their child for a couple of hours first, gradually introducing the child to a new environment. Settling in sessions are aimed at helping your child to adapt to their new surroundings and become more familiar with the staff and other children.
Special Festivals
Our nursery encourages children to celebrate festivals throughout the year. This is one of the best ways for children to learn about different religions and cultures by celebrating various world religious festivals, food tasting from different countries, and dressing up in the national dress of their friends.
Christmas Shows
We celebrate Christmas by putting on a wonderful Christmas show for friends and family each year. There’s always much excitement in preparing for the show as we learn songs and organise our special event.

Fundraising
Taking part in fundraising activities helps children to learn about others that are less fortunate than themselves and understand how we can help them. Fundraising events are good fun and are a great way to get children, families and communities together. Some of the fundraisers we have taken part in are; sponsored toddles, superhero days, baking cakes to sell and garden parties. We are currently fundraising for the Salvation Army and Comic Relief.
Parent Communication
In recognition that education begins in the home, we are fully committed to a partnership approach with parents. Parents are kept up to date with newsletters and parent’s evenings twice a year. Parents are also able to keep up to date with activities going on in the nursery by following our group social media accounts; Shaw Facebook and Holyrood Twitter.
Community Outings
Our nursery enjoys great ties with our local community and we are often out and about visiting local sights and getting involved in events.

Nursery Uniform
We offer families the choice of purchasing a nursery uniform. These optional uniforms offer a smart and practical clothing choice for play at nursery.
Graduation
We celebrate the big move to primary school with a special graduation ceremony each year—caps, gowns, the works!
Easter Parade
Each year we celebrate Easter with a special Easter Parade – enjoyed by all our little ones!
